Do you want to know what the Number 1 selling toy for Christmas will be?

I recently met with this guy Michael Connolly who has created an developed an excitng product and ingenius toy which is tipped to be one of the biggest sellers this Christmas Animatazz.
From there website...
Animatazz was created in April 2007 to unlock imaginations, introduce the joys of animation and movie-making and encourage creative expression through the moving image medium.
The website is designed to entertain and engage children and to provide easy routes into animation for teaching and enjoyment both in school and at home.
Animatazz bridges digital technology with its users “hands-on” creativity in a FUN and colourful way. Our educational toy is aimed at 8-12 year olds.
In the spring of 2009 Michael went in front of the Dragons on the TV show Dragons den to pitch his innovative toy and business concept, seeking investment for the Animatazz animation kit he produced and created.
We know that it inspires and challenges the creative potential of young people.

animatazz-kitimg

Its universal appeal and is aimed at a world market. We have great confidence in our Animation Station and concepts for further developing these educational toys.
Our focus for this year is to make it the Number ONE toy in Ireland this Christmas, 2009.

Animatazz also provides bespoke workshops in animation, filmmaking and VJ-ing to schools, youth or social groups and the corporate sector.
It is also the ambition of Animatazz to produce films and series for TV and Cinema. Animatazz (c) 2009

http://www.animacam.tv

I got an email last week from these Spanish guys who came across my Animation short The Knock. They were complimenting me on it and wanted to include it on an online international Animation Festival thing.
That was pretty cool as it is now 10 years old. Check out the Retrospective animation selection for The Knock and The Joys of Spring. I found it cool seeing the details in Spanish

Título: THE KNOCK
Sinopsis: Basado en hechos reales. Una mujer moribunda reza para juntarse de nuevo con su hijo desaparecido al cual no ha visto desde que su barco se hundió en la Primera Guerra Mundial.

Título: THE JOYS OF SPRING
Sinopsis: Período de consumo de un estudiante toma un extraño giro cuando un poco de cerveza cae en algunos dientes de león.

Thanks a million to all the crew at www.animacam.tv

'Wait till they get a load of Georgie!'

This clown is a portrait of Colin Malone a friend of mine who is an award winning actor from the Silken Thomas players in Kildare town. This piece was commisioned by his Mother and father as an original Birthday present. It was made up from a few pictures posted on his bebo page.
I tried to capture the character rather than a realistic traditional portait. The result was this menacing explosion in Colour and Clown tartan patterns which were great fun to do.

The original is an A2 sized portarait painted in bright Acrylic paints.

Another detail I liked was the fit of the clown nose. It was unusual to see as it wasnt as I imagined from other clown pics or from memory.
